Mac and cheese treated like a perfumer's label is the gap that makes this version work. Eight oval cartouches, axial symmetry held all the way down the page, and a block of cheddar engraved at the line without a single flat gray anywhere on it.

What this style does
Pen and black ink engravings, with no flat gray at all: every halftone comes from the density of the hatching. Each ingredient sits in an oval cartouche with a double rule, and the page is symmetrical inside a double-ruled frame.
Very slightly broken paper, black alone, gray kept for secondary type. A bodoni in spaced capitals, roman numerals for the steps. The object it imitates is a perfumer's label.
Who it is for
Quiet kitchens, old apartments, the gift that should look expensive without raising its voice.
What is in it
1 lb elbow macaroni, 6 tbsp butter, 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, 3 cups milk, 4 cups cheddar, 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg, 1/2 cup bread crumbs, salt and pepper.
